Healthy Eating for Lifetime Fitness

Although exercise is the main focus of UniqueFitnessTips.com, healthy eating is just as (if not more) important. It’s the foundation of good nutrition that ensures you'll achieve the optimal results you want.

All of the recommended fitness programs and products in this website will help you add muscle and lose fat. But if you want to accelerate the process and become even healthier, then healthy eating is the way to go.

As mentioned in the Beat Cholesterol! page, it’s very possible to look fantastic on the outside but not be in such great shape on the inside. You can actually look like a world-class athlete but suffer from high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, and other health problems if you don’t watch your diet.

Oops, I said the D-word.

By “diet” I don’t mean starving yourself or eating nothing but celery sticks for a month.

Fad diets don’t work. Or maybe they do work at first. But then you gain even more of the weight back once you inevitably resume your regular eating habits.

So forget “diet.” We’re talking about healthy eating. We’re talking lifestyle. And with a reasonable amount of common sense and some discipline, you can create a healthy eating lifestyle that will catapult you into top shape—on the outside and the inside.

The Drolz Sesame Plan

Before I direct you to some highly recommended resources I want to share with you my own healthy eating plan. It’s so simple, it’s complicated. But it has worked for me without fail. It’s a lifestyle eating system that I call the Sesame Plan.

In a nutshell…

Stop Eating Slop And get More Exercise.

Amazingly simple, isn’t it? Effective, too.

First, make up your mind that you’re not going to pollute your body with any of the junk food slop that’s offered in convenience stores and fast-food restaurants. It comes down to this: anytime you lift a morsel of food to your mouth, ask yourself: Is this food, or slop?

You know the answer. Respond accordingly and lose the slop.

Second, find an exercise program that appeals to you. If you don’t have the time for a regular exercise routine, well, hey, you’re in luck. This website is chock full of exercise plans that take little or no time. Find one that you genuinely enjoy. It's when you’re having a great time when you're going to stick with the program. It becomes an emotional investment where following the Sesame Plan is practically second nature.

Easier Said Than Done

"But I'm too busy."

"But I'm so stressed."

"But my family and friends tempt me with junk food everyday."

I know. Establishing a consistent pattern of healthy eating habits is easier said than done. That's why you've got to be strong. You've got to make a commitment. Your family and friends will think you're crazy, but it's worth it.

Can you visualize yourself 20 pounds lighter? Wouldn't it be great if all those junk food saboteurs started saying, "Hey, you look fantastic! How did you do it?"

It starts with a decision that you're going to make this happen. It continues with awareness. If you pay attention you'll catch yourself reaching for an unnecessary potato chip or cookie when you're stressed out. This is where you have to start questioning yourself: "Am I really hungry?"

"Awareness" also means re-programming your brain to a certain extent. Have you ever noticed people engaging in mindless eating? As if they've been programmed to eat certain foods during certain events?

Have you noticed people automatically reaching for popcorn at the movies? Or even making a huge vat of their own when watching a DVD in the basement? Have you seen people mindlessly wolfing down hot dogs at a ballgame?

They're unconscious! It's like they've been brainwashed. Must have hot dog... must have hot dog... KNOCK IT OFF! Wake up and be aware of what's happening.

Get psyched. Motivate yourself. Get support from your family or friends (this has been identified by many people as the key component to sticking with a new exercise plan or healthy eating lifestyle).

Announce what you're doing and tell the world you're going to succeed. In fact, put yourself on the spot like I just did on the Turbulence Training page. There's nothing like the risk of public humiliation to get you going, I'm telling you.

Check out the recommended reading list below. When you’re motivated by an exercise plan and excited by the health benefits of numerous Super Foods that are readily available, that’s when you become passionate about your new lifestyle. It’s this passion that makes it work.

Fad diets, measuring calories, coordinating your menu with the alignment of the planets, etc., simply won't fly.

I’m sorry to be so crude and revoltingly simple. I'm sorry I don’t have any secret techniques or gimmicks.

It simply comes down to you. And you can do it.
